Finding Joy in the Journey: September Edition
September.
It’s my birthday month — and it usually brings a mix of anticipation and excitement. But this year is different. A little quieter. A little slower. There’s an air of hesitation and uncertainty.
Still, there’s a lot to be grateful for.
Still, there are more than a few things that are making me smile.
Here are a few things I’m loving lately:
My husband. Steady, present, protective. As he takes on all the things I can’t, there’s something about seeing love in action.
This book. I Thought I’d Have It All Together by Now by Katy Fults. Short chapters, solid truth. It’s the book I didn’t know I needed.
Baths with bath bombs. Since showers right now are out, a bath with bath bombs has been my evening reset. Lavender, eucalyptus, vanilla, rose. Each one has been a welcome exhale.
Fresh flowers on my nightstand. An unexpected gift stationed between medicine bottles and charging cords. A beautiful reminder that I’m loved.
The view outside my front door. One morning, a frog was just… there, stuck to the glass, a welcome surprise. He made me smile all day.
Constant by Maverick City. I keep hitting repeat. It’s become my reminder: God doesn’t move, even when everything else does.
I didn’t go looking for joy — it found me. In the exhale as I slip into lavender bath. In the smile a surprise visitor brings. Sometimes joy just shows up and waits for you to notice.
Let’s keep the conversation going.
What about you?
What’s been showing up lately?
What’s making you smile?
