I’m Still Here
Do you remember the old church testimony services? Member after member would stand during the service and share amazing stories of what the Lord had done for them. They would share stories about miracles of deliverance, provision, and healing. As a child I would sit and listen to those stories in awe and think about how I would love to have a relationship with God like that, how I would love to have an amazing story, a miraculous testimony.
NOW I do have a testimony. But, it’s not a story of deliverance from addiction, an amazing monetary gift, or miraculous healing. My testimony is simple — I am still here.
I am just a woman who’s loved and lost, no different than the more than 50% of our population who experience divorce. But I am still here. I am in my right mind, free from gripping thoughts of suicide. Free from overwhelming depression. Free from the choke of bitterness. I don’t run this race every day with gazelle-like beauty. Some days it’s as if I’m a baby taking her first steps. I fall. I cry, and I might need the help of someone close to pick me up.
James 5:11 NKJV reads, Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord– that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
Maybe your testimony isn’t one most would consider to be one of miracles, signs and wonders. You have, however, endured. You are still here.
