From Anguish to Hope
From Anguish to Hope is a seven-part devotional series following Jesus’ journey from the Garden of Gethsemane to Calvary. As He faced anguish, betrayal, suffering, and silence, He walked a road many of us know all too well. Because Jesus has already traveled that road, we can make our way from anguish to hope.

Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee. Luke 24:5b-6 NKJV
Before a significant spiritual season in my life, I had a vivid dream about being in battle. This dream was filled with bows and arrows and chariots. There were ambushes, pursuits, and defensive maneuvers.
Although many of the details are now fuzzy, there are two things I distinctly remember. One, someone was fighting alongside me throughout the battle. Two, at the end of the battle, I was standing victorious in the midst of blood, carnage, death, and destruction. It was an intense dream!
The Lord was preparing me not only for the fight but for the outcome. He was reminding me that victory was already mine before the battle even began.
The same is true for you.
Whatever your circumstance, you are victorious. You have already won the battle. Jesus has promised He will never leave you or forsake you.
The women who came to the tomb on that early morning carried spices for burial. They were walking in grief, expecting death. Instead, they were met by angels and the stunning reality that Jesus had risen—just as He said He would.
Their sorrow turned to astonishment, and then to joy.
The resurrection wasn’t just proof of His power; it was a reminder of His promises. When the angel said, Remember His words, it wasn’t a suggestion. It was a command to anchor their faith in what Jesus had already spoken.
The same call comes to us today. When fear whispers, This is the end, remember His words. When the diagnosis, the divorce, or the disappointment says, It’s over, remember His words. When it feels like everything is falling apart, remember what He promised: I have overcome the world.
We don’t fight for victory. We fight from victory.
The cross was the battle. The empty tomb is the proof.
